Hyatt Hotels retained TSS Consultants to conduct a wildfire risk mitigation assessment for a destination resort located on the California Central Coast – Alila Ventana Big Sur. Ventana Resort is situated on 160 acres of forestland considered at high risk to wildfire. Recent wildfires (2020 Dolan Fire, 2016 Soberanes Fire) have heightened concerns regarding future wildfire potential in the Big Sur area. TSS completed a comprehensive wildfire risk assessment, followed up by a fuels reduction plan, structure hardening plan and exterior fire suppression system analysis. TSS is now implementing the fuels reduction plan which create 40 acres of shaded fuel breaks adjacent to key assets on the resort property including guest lodging and employee housing.
