TSS is currently assisting the County of Santa Barbara, Resource Recovery & Waste Management Division in the review of the proposed conversion of landfill gas (LFG) at the Tajiguas Resource Recovery Project into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). This RNG is proposed to be used at an on-site compressed gas filling station for County vehicles, as well as injected into the nearby Southern California Gas Company natural gas pipeline. The RNG will be withdrawn at various compressed gas filling station throughout California. As an extremely important part of this review, TSS has been advising the County on the Federal Renewable Fuel Standard program for reducing greenhouse gas emissions via Renewable Identification Numbers (RINS) credits, as well the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard credits program. These programs are critical to the successful economics of the LFG conversion to RNG.
