The Arizona Department of Military and Emergency Affairs (AZDEMA) has retained TSS to conduct a feasibility study to investigate the potential opportunity to site a wood to energy facility at or near Camp Navajo. Camp Navajo is a 28,000 acre Army National Guard training site and Department of Defense storage site. Most of Camp Navajo is ponderosa pine dominated forest that is in need of mechanical fuels treatments. This study will review a variety of bioenergy technologies and the associated feasibility of siting a commercial scale wood-to-energy facility on or adjacent to Camp Navajo that will assist the Arizona Army National Guard in achieving energy security, improve forest health and economic development in Northern Arizona.
